Elizabeth Romero named Spotlight Award Finalist!

Once again the Academy for the Performing Arts at Huntington Beach High School has the priviledge of announcing a Musical Theater Department Student selected to be a Finalist in the NonClassical Voice category of the Spotlight Awards at LA's Dorothy Chandler Pavilionl Elizabeth Romero found her name being called as one of the 2 finalists after a lengthy three month process of selection the Educational Program of the Los Angeles Music Center sponsors each year. This year 430 hopefuls from all over Southern California were put through rigorous auditions until those 430 were narrowed down to the final 2! Amidst cheers and paparazzi, Elizabeth Romero, a senior in the Musical Theater Department of APA was announced as the Music Center's choice for this year's Finalist. Elizabeth performed her MACY Award winning and Musical Theater West Footlighter's Scholarship Award winning rendition of "Gimme, Gimme" from the Musical Thoroughly Modem Millie which Romero starred in 2010. Accompanied by Musical Theater Department Chair Tim Nelson, Elizabeth's win marks the second APA student selected for this honor in 2 year's, having Musical Theater graduate Kyle Selig winning in 20101 The Celebration culminates in her performance at the beautiful Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on April 28, 2012 along with Finalists from the other categories of Dance, Instrumental Music and Visual Arts. A perfect way to crown her senior year at APA as this young star hits the heights through hard work, dedication and of course a whole lot of talent!!
