Gathering for the 2026 electrifying edition of the annual PLAYLIST concert, HB APA welcomes both newcomers and long-time fans to experience a night of unparalleled musical talent. The essence of PLAYLIST lies in its unique opportunity for students to craft their own personal 'playlist' of songs, delivering performances that are both intimate and innovative. This year, the spotlight shines especially bright on the APA MMET Popular Music and Media students, who will be dazzling concert goers with their original compositions. PLAYLIST 2026 promises a lineup of original songs penned, recorded, and produced by APA’s talented students who will take center stage. Adding a visual feast to the auditory experience, APA’s Media (film/tv) students will unveil their original music videos on the enormous screens that frame the stage during each musical performance.

HBAPA is a place where teenagers cannot wait to go to school every day because along with their English and history classes they get to hone their skills as a songwriter and pop music artist. Amongst master-level instruction in acting, costume design, dance, dramatic production (playwriting/directing), musical theatre, orchestra, and technical theatre, the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts (HB APA) offers academic classes in Popular Music, Songwriting, and Media (TV/Film Production). These classes are part of the HB APA MMET Department which stands for Music, Media, Entertainment Technology. HB APA is the arts magnet program for the Huntington Beach Union High School District.

This year marks a significant leap in responsibility for the artists, as they've embraced their projects with unprecedented dedication. Many arrived at the start of the school year with songs already primed for release, showcasing their commitment and passion. With everyone involved working tirelessly at double the usual pace, the result is a show that promises to astound with the professionalism and high caliber of the student performers. Popular hits that you might already know will also accompany the student produced songs. Get ready to be amazed by the next wave of musical brilliance!

MMET’s PLAYLIST 2026 will take place in the HBUSHD historic auditorium located on the campus of Huntington Beach High School from November 6-7. Shows will be Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 2pm and 7pm. For tickets please visit hbapa.org/see. There is also an APA Studio Show on November 10th - ask an MMET student about tickets.
