Josh Behrens Named as HB APA Auditorium Technician

The Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts has named Josh Behrens as the Academy’s Auditorium Technician. Mr. Behrens has worked with the APA Technical Theatre Department for over five years, and will succeed Joe Batte as Auditorium Technician for the 2021-2022 school year and beyond.

Josh Behrens specializes in lighting design and audio engineering, and actively works in the entertainment industry throughout Southern California. Josh holds a CTE Credential in Arts, Media and Entertainment, and earned an Associates’ Degree in Mathematics from Golden West College.

Mr. Behrens is an HB APA alumnus who graduated from the Technical Theatre Department in 2016. He has worked as the APA Studio Theater Technical Director for over five years, and will now enter his first year as APA Auditorium Technician.

Mr. Behrens is currently completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Management from Arizona State University. He is thrilled to succeed Joe Batte as Auditorium Technician and is excited to continue educating APA’s bright Technical Theatre students.

Chris Henderson Joins HB APA Faculty

The Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the addition of Chris Henderson to the HB APA team. Mr. Henderson will join the Academy’s renowned faculty and will begin the 2021-2022 school year as APA’s Auditorium Technician.

Chris Henderson spent his early years performing as a musician throughout the country, which developed his unyielding passion for working with youth arts education and nonprofits. After ending his time as a performer, Mr. Henderson shifted his career to the back of house in roles such as Tour Management; Administrative Operations; Risk Management; Safety, Health, and Wellness; and Set Design and Fabrication.

Mr. Henderson has been a music and visual-performance educator at several high schools in Southern California. He serves as the Director of Programs to the Winter Guard International and Southern California Percussion Alliances World Class Ensembles for Pulse Percussion and POW Percussion. He also serves as Corps Manager to Drum Corps Internationals for Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Henderson worked for the Walt Disney Company in Anaheim for sixteen years as a research and product developer in confections, and has worked as a coordinator to the Disney Performing Arts program.

Mr. Henderson is exhilarated to join the APA family and to work with and showcase some of the most talented youth in Orange County. APA welcomes Mr. Henderson to the team, and cannot wait to see what he has in store for APA’s students.
